Wednesday, Aug. 31st – 1100 Blk. 2nd Ave (S-Bound)

Thursday, Sept. 1st – 4100 Blk. Ingersoll Ave (E-Bound)

Friday, Sept. 2nd – 1400 Blk. ML King Bypass (E-Bound)

Stationary Speed Cameras In Place on I-235

The Des Moines Police Department has installed stationary speeding cameras on I-235 Eastbound. This is intended to be a permanent speed trap, with tickets sent by mail. Currently the city is only testing the cameras. They are located just east of 56th st. and a quarter mile from the 42nd street exit. In fact one of the cameras is on the back of a sign that says " Exit 5B 42nd St. 1/4 mile." Only vehicles traveling eastbound will be affected.

Des Moines Mobile Radar Unit Vandalized.

Only a month after being put out of commission by a wayward teenage driver, the Des Moines Police Department announced yesterday that their Mobile Speed Unit was egged on Wednesday, Aug. 17th while parked on Beaver Avenue. Des Moines installs red-light cameras as other cities take them down.
